What are industrial robotic palletizers?

Columbia/Okura robotic palletizers employ an articulated robotic arm to pick, orient, and place individual products, arranging them into layers which build into a full pallet load for shipping or storage purposes.

Articulated robots are the most common for palletizing applications, as the robotic arm can handle heavy products, palletize up to four lines at once, and pick up to 25 cases per minute.

They are more compact and configurable than standard palletizing systems.

Other types of robots used in palletizing include Gantry (or Cartesian) robots for slower applications and SCARA style robots, often used in faster production facilities to handle larger products.
