Bag-filling machines are designed to automatically fill bags with bulk solid products like granules, powder, flakes, and pellets. Bags are placed into a bag magazine where bags are automatically opened and sealed once filled, producing uniformly filled bags. These machines handle open-mouth bags for application between small 5kg bags to 80kg jumbo bags. These bag filling machines are integrated with palletizing equipment, including conveyors and accessories, to build pallets of uniformly filled bags for shipping and storage.

The most common style of bagging machines is designed to handle open-mouth PP, PE, and paper bags. Other styles of bagging machines are designed to handle pillow and gusseted style bags. Additionally, different style bag fillers are designed to handle form, fill and seal style bags as well as valve bag filling stations.

Typically, the main benefit of using integrated bagging equipment is to maximize throughput of bag filling in order to keep up with upstream equipment and downstream palletizing. Other benefits include:

There are many factors to consider when choosing the right bagging equipment for you. One key element to consider is the type of bag and its size so it functions properly with the equipment and your product(s). Another factor to consider is whether factory floor space and ceiling height accommodate the height of funnel mounted on top. Perhaps the most important thing to consider though, is whether your production rate justifies the purchase of the equipment.

Automatic bagging equipment provides a number of benefits for production efficiency including:

Proper training of operators ensures that operators will be able to identify and diagnose protentional issues. Regular maintenance, service, repairs, and cleaning are paramount to the longevity and reliability of the bagging machine. 

This varies depending on which product is run through the bagger. Dusty or abrasive products will require more cleaning and upkeep to ensure the system continues running at quoted rates for its lifespan. 

Safety considerations begin at the design of the systems. Most bagging systems rely on an enclosed design that separates all the moving parts from the operators. Using safety door switches allows the system to immediately shut down whenever a door to the bagging area is opened. Additionally, guarding can set-up to fence off the equipment from high traffic areas of the facility, keeping both the equipment and employees safe.

While a single system can handle a huge variety of bags, for optimal reduction of downtime, it is often smart to always run the same product and bag when possible. When change-over is necessary, one need only adjust the bag magazine, bag guides, and filling spout to the appropriate dimensions for the new bag. It is also important to make sure upstream content is optimized to efficiently provide the bagger with consistent product to be bagged.
