Our History

Columbia/Okura LLC is jointly owned by two industry-leading material-handling companies: Columbia Machine, Inc. of Vancouver, Washington, USA, and Okura Yusoki of Kakogawa, Japan. Columbia/Okura LLC puts 20 years of robotic palletizing expertise and 100 years of combined materials handling experience into each and every machine produced.

Columbia Machine pioneered the floor level palletizer in 1962 and has continued to build on that success with industry-leading floor and high level palletizing solutions for cases, bags, bales, trays, bundles, display packs, plastic totes, and shrink-wrapped product. Columbia Machine is celebrated throughout the industry for its 65-year tradition of excellence in customer service, attention to detail and for supplying quality solutions built to last.

Okura Yusoki developed the first multi-articulated robot for palletizing in 1983. The company was also the first to manufacture, integrate, and install a multi-articulated robotic palletizing system. Since then, Okura Yusoki has integrated and installed over 2,000 robotic palletizing systems. The company is known throughout Asia for its flexible automation solutions and industry leading end-of-arm tooling for palletizing. Okura Yusoki currently manufactures, integrates, installs, and services 20 robotic palletizers per month.

In 1996 Columbia Machine and Okura Yusoki agreed to invest in Columbia/Okura LLC. The joint effort takes Columbia Machine's knowledge of material handling in the U.S. market and combines it with Okura's technology and engineering resources to deliver robotic palletizing systems to North America. Today, Columbia/Okura designs, manufactures, integrates, installs and services robotic palletizers to end users throughout the continent.

For over 10 years, Columbia/Okura has provided robotic palletizing solutions to various industries including food and beverage, consumer products, building products, chemical and agricultural products.
